Please join us for our annual meeting, followed by a short, informal program to view and discuss an important urban landscape painting of St. Anne’s Church in Waterbury by artist Peter Poskas II. The work will be included in the February 17th Fine Estates Auction by Schwenke Auctioneers. The painting, which dates to the early 1970s, highlights the church’s two 100-foot steeples, which were removed in 2019. It was painted during the same period as a related Poskas work owned by the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, Connecticut, titled St. Anne’s from Benedict.

Peter Poskas II is a highly regarded realist landscape and architectural artist, born in Waterbury in 1939. Throughout his career, he has documented a wide range of Connecticut scenes, as well as landscapes in Maine and elsewhere, with a keen understanding of realism, weather, and light. The Mattatuck Museum recently hosted a joint exhibition of works by Peter and his son, Peter Poskas III, titled Poskas: Father & Son, which ran from September 8, 2024, through January 5, 2025.

Light refreshments will be served, and donations will be accepted.
