Ground Zero: Witchcraft in Connecticut

As the Museum marks its 100th anniversary, we have introduced new twists to our beloved favorites. The “Witch of Woodbury” program originated from one woman’s fascination with Moll Cramer, who was accused of witchcraft and expelled from town. Glebe House Museum volunteer Linda Barr-Gale dedicated many years to portraying Moll in our popular cemetery tours. As her understanding of this real-life figure deepened, so did her audience; so much so that we relocated her to the museum grounds for a one-woman show!

Ms. Gale’s interest in the stories of those accused and executed in colonial Connecticut continued to grow, allowing us to include other women and men in the presentation. The event became extremely popular and has outgrown the space at the museum. This year, we decided to revamp the format and add a modern twist to our historical content by producing a full-length, theatrical podcast with Woodbury’s own Moll Cramer as the host.

Explore the trials of Woodbury's "Witch" and others accused of witchcraft in colonial Connecticut. Learn why the Connecticut River Valley was central to witch executions, and hear stories of survival and tragic fates. Mol Cramer will be joined by Thomas Allyn, Rebecca Greensmith, and Katherine Harrison to delve into these historical events.
