Summer Experience for Children

Hands-on-History Program

STEP INTO ANOTHER TIME…

Enjoy unique summer experiences, filled with fun and hands-on learning at our 18th-century historic site.  The staff includes talented educators who work to provide a safe and enriching environment for children. Programs are designed to be accurate, interactive, and exciting, stimulating further interest in history, horticulture, early American trades, and the arts.

 

Full Week Program - Monday–Friday / 9:00 am-3:00 pm

Ages 6-12



Program Fee: Members / $250    Non-Members / $275



 

Early Bird Discount available until June 15th


August 4 - 8: Hands-on-History

Relive Woodbury Life in the 18th & 19th Centuries:  Experience living history at our historic site in this enhanced version of our classic summer program, now in its 35th year!

Discover the treasures of the Glebe House Museum as you participate in colonial crafts, make candles, churn butter, learn childhood games of the past, explore our famous Gertrude Jekyll Garden, learn about herbal remedies and kitchen gardens, create nature-inspired art, and so much more!

 

Pre-Registration Required. Register early. Space in the programs is limited.

High School Students aged 14 and up are encouraged to apply as “Youth Leaders” to earn community service hours and a small stipend as they help staff with program activities.

Museum Hours:

The Museum is Open for the 2025 Season. 

Hours:

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. Last guided tour at 3:20 pm.

*The Museum will be closed on Sunday, May 18, Friday, June 27, and Friday, July 4.

The Gertrude Jekyll Garden:  Open year-round, 7 days per week, dawn-dusk, for self-guided tours.

 *Please excuse our appearance as our staff has begun restoration work in the Jekyll Garden.  The Garden will remain open to the public throughout the restoration.
