A Gem in the Heart of Woodbury

A History Bites Lecture presented by The Glebe House Museum & Gertrude Jekyll Garden Gracing Woodbury’s historic Glebe House Museum is the only garden in America by the great English garden designer Gertrude Jekyll. In 1926, Miss Jekyll was commissioned to draw up plans for an “old-fashioned garden” for the Glebe House. The completed plans disappeared for many years. In the 1980’s, the hidden plans were found and volunteers stepped up to install the many hundreds of feet of perennial borders. But even beautiful gardens change over time, and today’s crop of volunteers is working to bring the borders closer to Miss Jekyll’s vision.
