Holidays in the Hollow

The Museum will offer a preview of its “Holiday Shoppe” on Shop Small Saturday, November 30 from 10-3 in the Cottage Annex at the Glebe House Museum. Visitors will be able to purchase hand-made, vintage and new items for that special holiday gift. Light refreshments will be served. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted. All proceeds benefit the Glebe House Museum’s preservation and education efforts.

The holiday season offers each of us a chance to reminisce, connect with family and friends and find joy in our traditions. One of the most anticipated traditions in Woodbury has become the Glebe House Museum’s Holiday Gala.

‘The Holidays in the Hollow’ Gala is slated for Friday, December 6 from 5:30 to 8:00 PM at The Glebe House, 49 Hollow Road in Woodbury. Guests will be treated to savory hors d’ oeuvres and an array of wines to toast the holidays; complimented by the elegantly decorated museum. In this magical candlelit setting, the rooms of the museum will be brimming with good cheer and beautiful decorations. All of the one-of-a-kind wreaths, swags and table top decorations will light up the holiday and be available for purchase. Guests will also have a wonderful opportunity to wrap up their Christmas gift list or find that perfect hostess gift at the Silent Auction and Holiday Shoppe, where original art work, gift baskets, silver, and other treasures will be found. The cost to attend this year’s event is $25 per person.

To continue the Holiday Festival, the Museum will hold its open house on Saturday, December 7 from 10AM to 3PM. The public may enjoy the beautiful decorations to purchase, along with gift items available in the Holiday Shoppe, presented in the Cottage Annex.

Back by popular demand: Guests will also be able to sample and purchase the Glebe’s own “Yum-Yum Bread”. This is a special “tea cake” recipe created for the Glebe House and has been a holiday favorite for many years.

Visitors will enjoy experiencing life in this Revolutionary War era house during the holidays re-enacted by adult and youth volunteers. The costumed docents will give first person accounts of the Marshall family who lived at the “Glebe” from 1771-1786, and share stories about how the family prepared for the holiday season.

Admission is free for the day. Donations are gladly accepted to help the Museum fund its educational programs and preservation needs.

All proceeds from these events will help support The Glebe House Museum & Gertrude Jekyll Garden. For more information and to purchase tickets for the Holidays in the Hollow Gala, please call the museum at 203-263-2855 or email at office@glebehousemuseum.org
